The rate of achievement of a cognitive milestone known as 'false belief' (understanding that thoughts and reality can differ) was found to be influenced by parent's discussion of children's behavior, discussion of emotion and power assertion. 

Levels of parent mind-mindedness has been found to be correlated with the development of theory of mind (ability to understand that others have different thoughts from themselves) in children.

Young adults ability to perceive themselves as being able to relate well to children were found to be influenced by their mother's level of overparenting as well as by their attachment style.

The level of female undergraduates dissatisfaction with their body was found to be influenced by a range of parenting factors, particularly negative body-related comments/teasing, but also levels of attachment, feelings of parental acceptance and separation anxiety from parents.
