Teenagers whose parents used punitive discipline practices have been found to be more likely to be involved in bullying.

Authoritative parenting in childhood has been found to elicit the best parent-child communication during adolescence.

Authoritarian parenting style on the part of the mother was found to be predictive of worse personal- emotional adjustment to college but better social adjustment.
