Three positive parenting practices - reading to children, engaging in storytelling or singing and eating together as a family have been shown to decrease the risk of developmental delay in under 5 year olds.

Responsive parenting was found to improve children's receptive language ability at age 3, particularly in low birth weight children.

Adolescents have been found to be more likely to have a healthy breakfast if had better family communication and felt more satisfied with their family.

Exposure to worrying situations and parent child interaction has been found to have effects equivalent to a cognitive bias modification therapy.
